About Me

My Job

I’ve been a liquor store manager for various liquors stores for the past 18 years. That is what I primarily do. Which is weird because I don’t drink, but then I guess no one has to worry about me drinking on the job I guess.  I have also been the tech for the store. So not only do I deal with the day to day operations of a liquor store, but I also have to deal with all the tech stuff.

The Techie

I’ve been into tech for as long as I can remember. I’m not an expert, I’m a tinker. Before computers I was into remote control cars. When I was a kid I used to play with them all the time and drive them until the motors died, or the gears would grind away. Then I’d take them apart. If the gears were gone I’d save the motors for the ones that the motors were gone on. I started repairing the electronics with a wood burning tool my parents has given me as a Christmas present by using it as a make shift soldering gun. Eventually I got into video games, and I started tinkering with them as well. With my Atari 2600 I created my own rapid fire controller for shooting games. Eventually as I got older I got into Bulletin Boards Services, and then I finally hit the internet. The 229 of everything I do comes from the name I got when I signed up for Aol 3.0 because I guess there was 228 gduncan’s before me.

Since then I’ve done my fair share of things. I fix computers, have ran web sites, done web design, graphic design, search engine optimization. I also have dealt with computer networking, software development, and internet security. A lot of this comes from my job. Part of my job is to handle whatever we need as far tech goes. I we need a website, I make the website, if we need a multi store vpn I create the vpn. You get the picture.

I don’t consider myself an expert at tech stuff though honestly. I do understand most of it so that helps, but I’m more and expert of finding what I need on google.

The Metal Head

I’ve been into heavy metal since I discovered Metallica’s Master of Puppets. Although they are tame compared to what I like nowadays, but hey they were heavy back in the day. I tend to like my metal heavy, but I also get into some odd stuff as well.

The Fitness Freak

A couple of years ago I got to that point where I need to lose some weight. So that began my journey of becoming healthy. I became a certified personal trainer and then got myself involved in healthier activities. Currently I’m into power lifting, but I’ve also been into running, functional training, crossfit, etc. Basically I try to keep myself from getting bored.
